Obituary
Woodrow Davis, 77 of 1144 Pearl Street, Warren departed this life Monday, February 15, 2010 at 8:40 p.m. at his son’s residence in Canton following an extended illness.
He was born May 11, 1932 in South Hill, VA, the son of William Mathew and Lillie May Powell Davis.
Mr. Davis was a self employed contractor working for 45 years as a Mason, before retiring in 1998.
He was a member of King Solomon Lodge #87 PHF & AM, Cement Finishers Local and enjoyed hunting.
He served from 1952-1956 in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict receiving several honors.
He leaves to mourn 1 son, Richard L. (Leslie) Davis of Canton; 2 daughters, Ms. Loretta J. Davis of Atlanta, GA and Mrs. Bridgette S. (Jake E. Sr.) Jones of Warren; 1 brother, Ray (Juanita) Davis of Union City, CA; 4 grandchildren, Sydney Davis and Jasmine Coleman both of Canton, Samone Jones and Jake E. Jones Jr. both of Warren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Harold and Frank Davis.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Community Church of God in Christ. Calling Hours: 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial at Meadowbrook Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 1144 Pearl Street, Warren.
Arrangements were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
