Obituary
Master Sergeant Sherry Lee Stokes Mandy, 46, of Clearfield, UT, departed this life Thursday, April 1st at 12:18 a.m. at McKay-Dee Hospital Center following an extended illness.
Master Sergeant Mandy was born Oct. 9, 1963, in Warren, OH, the daughter of James Stokes and Elouise Phillips, residing in the area for 10 years.
She served in the Navy for 3 yrs., then transferred to the Airforce serving for another 20 years as an inspector of inventory, before retiring Jan. 25, 2007. She worked in Holland, Turkey, Guam, Korea and Germany before being stationed in Utah. After her promotion to a Non Commissioned Officer she managed nuclear weaponry, delivered ammunition to the line and oversaw training and the building of bombs. She received numerous awards and medals for her excellent service and leadership abilities.
Sherry was a member of St. James C.O.G.I.C. and loved her dog, Precious, Bingo, and shopping.
She was a 1982 graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School and just received her Associates Degree from Stevens-Henager as a Medical Assistant.
She leaves to mourn 2 brothers, Daniel Stokes and James (Shelley) Stokes both of Warren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Nancy (Rayfield) Anderson of Staunton, VA, Mrs. Charlotte (Fred) Bonner of Kent and Mrs. Darla (Richard) Turner of Warren; 2 aunts, Mrs. Rubie Feaster of N.Y. and Mrs. Mary Cummings of N.J.; special friends from Utah, Jodi, Gina and Carol and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James C.O.G.I.C. Calling Hours: one hr. prior to service (10:00-11:00 a.m.). Burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 2040 Stewart Dr., N.W., the home of her brother, James and Shelley Stokes.
Professional arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
