Obituary
Elder Joe Nathan Ringold Sr., 90, of 3000 Meadow Lane, N.E., Warren departed this life Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 4:40 p.m. at Gillette Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 19, 1919 in Greenwood, MS, the son of Luther and Mittie Barber Ringold, coming to this area in 1947.
Elder Ringold was employed with Republic Steel Corp. for 35 years as a Coke Plant Operator, before retiring in 1978. He was a licensed minister, later ordained and became Pastor of St. Luke Church of God in Christ from 1986-1992, he was elected as a delegate to the General Assembly of The Church of God in Christ in 1994 and was Chaplain at Albert’s Nursing Home and Imperial Nursing Home. He also performed carpentry and masonry work, where he assisted in the building of several homes in the community.
He was a member of Jenkins Memorial Church of God in Christ, where he was an Associate Pastor. He belonged to USWA Local #2163 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, archery, playing guitar and piano.
He married Caldonia Wade Ringold Dec. 15, 1937.
Besides his wife of Warren, he leaves to mourn 6 sons, Joe (Lucile) Ringold Jr. and Luther (Marian A.) Ringold both of Warren, Elder Frank (Phoebe) Ringold of Painesville, Elder Hal (Patricia) Ringold of Tampa, FL, Elder Mark (Linda) Ringold and Elder Roger (Paulette) Ringold both of Warren; 3 daughters, Mrs. Rose (David) Jordan of Painesville, Mrs. Lillie (Flemon) Murray of Warren and Mrs. Hazel (Elder Harry) Love of Memphis, TN; 1 sister, Beatrice Ringold Brown of Warren; 28 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Leavittsburg Church of God. Calling Hours: two hours prior to service (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.). Burial at Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 3281 Lynwood, the home of his daughter, Lillie and Flemon Murray.
