Obituary          

Mittie F. Brown, 85 of 3310 Elm Road, Warren, fell asleep in death on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 9:40 a.m. at Gillette Nursing Home following an extended illness.

She was born January 3, 1925 in Bradleyton, AL, the daughter of Joe Lansden and Rosie May. She married Ozia L. Brown in 1942, coming to the Warren area in 1947 from Luverne, AL. She spent a few years in Dayton and Columbus, OH and in San Diego, CA but always returning to Warren.

Mrs. Brown was a Domestic Worker for a number of years. Affectionatley called “Smootie” by those who knew her best, she was an avid fisherwoman and an excellent cook, being especially noted for her homemade rolls, potato salad with apples and her lemon meringue pies.

She derived much joy from spending time with all children and from watching bowling and golf on television.

She leaves to mourn 2 sons, Jimmie (Edna) Brown of Temecula, CA and Ozia (Roberta) Brown of Warren; 1 daughter, Angeline (Roger) Logan of Columbus, OH; 1 sister, Evelyn Davis of Warren; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years Ozia L. Brown; father, Joe Lansden; mother, Rosie Lofton; stepfather, Lonnie Lofton and grandson, Vincent Brown.
