Margaret Orella Brawley, 88, of 465 Gypsy Lane, Apt. 511, Youngstown departed this life Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 5:40 p.m. at Dandridge Nursing Home after an extended illness.

She was born July 4, 1922 in Durham, NC, the daughter of Oscar and Rebecca Stanley Brawley, residing in Campbell.

Ms. Brawley lived in Pittsburgh for many years where she owned and operated the Liberty Place Restaurant, Record Store and a halfway house.

She was a certified Home Health Aide for 20 years and a Companion for 14 years, retiring in 2000.

Ms. Brawley was a 1940 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and received a Certificate from the American Bible College.

She was a former member of Gospel Temple and attended Metropolitan Baptist Church, where her grandson, Rev. J. Tate II was the former pastor. She enjoyed reading.

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Sarita Tate of Youngstown; 7 grandchildren, William Hulley of Ft. Washington, MD, Rev. John W. Tate II of Youngstown, Margaret Tate Barnes of Columbus, OH, Jodie, Andre, Angie and Joannie all of CA; 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 son, Carhmel Stewart Brawley; 2 brothers, Jesse Leon and John Brocton Brawley; 2 sisters, Amy Louise Banks and Addie Bratton and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 27 at 12 noon at New Hope Baptist Church. Calling hours: 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (one hr. prior to service). Burial at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
