John S. Greene, 67, of 5291 Ashley Circle, Austintown departed this life Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at 6:15 a.m. at Briarfield at Ashley Circle following complications from an extended illness.
He was born April 17, 1942 in Campbell, OH, the son of John S. and Louise Swint Greene Sr.
Mr. Greene was owner/operator of John’s Carpet Installation for 40 years, before retiring in 2003. He also worked for Prizant Carpet Co. and Lane Carpet Co. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, enjoyed current events, spending time with family, and shooting the breeze at the WRTA Bus Station.
He leaves to mourn 4 sons, John S. Greene III of Columbus, Keith Greene of San Francisco, CA, Terry Perry and Jerry (Nicole) Perry both of Youngstown; 3 daughters, Ms. Tawanda Greene of Santa Fe, CA, Mrs. Andrea (Timothy) Barganier-Beard of Humbolt, TN and Ms. Tymmesha Brown of Sharon, PA; 6 sisters, Ms. Pecola Watkins, Mrs. Dolores (Ben) VanCobb of Boardman, Mrs. Vera Cole, Ms. Velma Collins, Ms. Hazel Greene and Ms. Mabel Hall of Katy, TX; 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, special friends, Ms. Gloria Fleeton and Joshua Williams and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Freeman Davis, Donald, Larry and Harry Greene; 3 sisters, Ms. Sharon Andrea Greene, Mrs. Jacqueline Dannals and Mrs. Thelma Galman.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Chapel. Calling Hours: 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (one hr. prior to services). Burial at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 322 S. Truesdale, Youngstown, the home of his sister, Hazel Greene.
