Obituary
Fred Cleveland Jr., 92, of 1926 Wick St., SE, Warren departed this life Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 6:40 a.m. at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital of Pneumonia.
He was born June 28, 1918 in Warren, OH, the son of Fred and Jemescoe Evans Cleveland.
Mr. Cleveland was employed with Standard Slag for 19 years as a Foreman, before retiring July 1983. He was the second Black Trumbull County Deputy Sheriff and was a past Manager of the Benten Homes.
He was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School.
He attended Second Baptist Church, a member of King Solomon Lodge #87, cofounder of the AFLCIO Tball League, NAACP and an active community volunteer. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He married Thelma Lee Brinkley Cleveland June 26, 1982, she died March 11, 2010.
He leaves to mourn 2 sons, Mark E. (Rochelle) Cleveland of Warren and Thomas A. Cleveland of Columbus; 4 daughters, Mrs. Barbara J. (John) Stevenson of District Heights, MD, Miss Winifred A. Cleveland of Baytown, TX, Ms. Patricia E. Cleveland Rice and Ms. Phyllis D. Heflin both of Warren; 1 stepson, Carl Coney of New York, NY; 3 brothers, James (Lillie) Cleveland, Robert (Louise) Cleveland and Lawrence Cleveland all of Cleveland; 4 sisters, Mrs. Ruth (Joe) Redd of Cleveland, Mrs. Elizabeth (Wilbert) Keys of Warren, Miss Shirley Cleveland of Upper Marboro, MD and Ms. Evelyn McCreary of Burgaw, NC; 21 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Leanna Sneed and 3 brothers, William, Charles and Paul Cleveland.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Elim Christian Center. Calling Hours: one hour prior to service (11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.). Burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at 1926 Wick St., SE, Warren 44484.
