Obituary          

Berry H. Spencer Sr., 70 of 1445 Southwest Blvd., Warren, departed this life Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 3:40 p.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was born January 5, 1940 in Warren, OH, the son of Robert T. and Esther J. Rivers Spencer Sr.

He was employed with Delphi Packard Electric for 37 years as a Molder, before retiring. He was a 1957 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

Mr. Spencer was a member of UAW Local 717 and he enjoyed spending time at the Solon Senior Recreation Center and his grandchildren.

He served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army as a Medical Specialist from Jan. 19, 1959-Aug. 6, 1968 receiving several honors.

He married Iris McQueen Spencer April 13, 1964.

Besides his wife of Warren, he leaves to mourn 2 sons, Berry H. Spencer Jr. and Roy Spencer both of Warren; 1 daughter, Taña Spencer of Solon; mother, Esther J. Spencer of Warren; 2 brothers, Seitu (Michele) Kenyatta of Charlotte, NC and James M. (Leana) Spencer of Howland; 5 sisters, Patricia (Freddy) Harris, Beverly King, Harriet (Louis) Bell, Rose S. Bell and Shelly Spencer all of Warren; 5 grandchildren, Dejoureè, Paul, D’Nai, Payton and Preston and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert T. Spencer Jr. and Howard Spencer; 2 sisters, Betty Starks and Verna Mae Spencer.

Memorial services will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Chapel.
